HOLY GENERATION
About Bestowed... Bestowed is an alternative Christian rock band based in Waynesville, NC. Their objective is to connect to and communicate Christ with youth and adults alike through music on a deep and intimate level. The original music offers inspiration to and identification with those struggling to understand their purpose in life. Started in 2007 by Ty and Lilly Carnes, what started as an idea has grown into a band of committed musicians eager to share their experiences and feelings through music. Ty is an extremely gifted guitarist, while Lilly is a vocal powerhouse. Adding drummer David Baiera in 2008 gave Bestowed the momentum they had been looking for. With the addition of bassist Jessica Hensley and Kristin Dodd on the keyboard and vocals, the band is truly an explosive mix. Bestowed has entertained at a variety of local churches and venues. They have spent the past year recording their first studio album, Alive, with the help of Billy Seals at Deaf Ear Studios, finetuning their unique sound and fleshing out their stage presentation. Leading song services at their home church in Waynesville has given them an opportunity to integrate worship into their sets. Now they are looking to establish themselves as the Godly response to today’s pop‐culture and develop a following in their home state of NC, branching out from there. Recently, Bestowed won the First Annual Asheville Christian Artist Showcase and opened for Grammy‐nominated group Decyfer Down this past May. Experiencing another competition, the Battle for Christ hosted by Legacy Productions, has not only allowed them to fine‐tune their stage presence but has also helped them meet other bands and performers. Winning the first round brought them to Lee University, the alma mater for Ty, Lilly and Kristin, and into the semifinals of the competition. After performing with many other talented bands, Bestowed won the semifinal round and will be moving forward to compete in the finals at the Ichthus Festival in Wilmore, KY this June. Because of its thunderous guitar and the strong voice of its lead singer, Lilly Carnes, Bestowed has been compared to such bands as Skillet or Fireflight. The God‐given talent flows in each musician, coming together to produce an evocative sound. Strong beats, heavy guitar and thought‐provoking lyrics are what characterize Bestowed. They are an up‐and‐coming band you won’t want to miss.
